Beef Shawarma Plate

My chicken shawarma recipe is one of the most made and liked on my blog. I decided to do a beef shawarma recipe as well for all you meat lovers. I can’t believe I didn’t make this sooner. Shawarma is extremely popular in the Middle East especially in a wrap, but in this case, I made a shawarma plate to omit the bread making this even healthier than it already is. My husband is doing a low carb diet known as keto; therefore carbs should be to a minimum. This plate is wonderful for those who want a filling healthy dinner for their family. You get your protein, plenty of vegetables and a whole lot of flavor.

Beef Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs Beef shawarma meat (sliced sirloin)

1 tbsp white vinegar

3 minced garlic cloves

2 tbsp olive oil

1 lemon’s juice

Salt & Pepper to taste

1 tbsp allspice

1 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp turmeric

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp paprika

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1 tbsp dried oregano

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp chili powder


  • Mix all the ingredients together. Marinate for at least an hour or ideally overnight. Cook in a large skillet with 1-2 tbsp of olive oil for 12-15 minutes till cooked through. Remove some of the sauce that comes from the meat. Then sear the meat for 2-3 minutes on high heat.


1/3 cup chopped tomatoes

1/2 cup chopped parsley and cilantro

1/4 cup chopped red onions

1-2 Persian cucumber finely chopped

3 finely chopped radishes (optional)

1/2 a lemon’s juice

1-2 tbsp olive oil

Salt & pepper


  • Mix all the chopped veggies in a bowl. Add the lemon juice and olive oil and toss the salad. Season well with salt and pepper.

Lemon Tahini Sauce

1 fresh lemon’s juice

1 tbsp water (to thin it out if necessary)

3 tbsp tahini

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt & pepper to taste

A sprinkle of sumac (optional)


  • Mix all the above ingredients together. If too watery then add more tahini if too thick then add more lemon juice or water. Add 3 -4 tbsp to the salad above or just used as a sauce on the side or garnish.


For the vegetable portion of the plate, you can roast any that you like. If on keto, I would recommend roasting cauliflower, roasted peppers, and/or zucchini rather than potatoes. If you do want a delicious potato recipe though; try this one.

The baba ghanoush recipe is already on my blog; I just used roasted garlic instead of raw and it was amazing! Roast it the same time as your eggplant and veggies by cutting off the head of the garlic and keep it exposed. Take off the outer layer of skin and place the garlic head in aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Close completely and baked with the other veggies.
