Magnolia’s Banana Pudding

So, the last 2 weeks I was in New Jersey visiting my family and one of those days included a trip to the city to roam around. My brother had mentioned how good Magnolia’s banana pudding is so we wanted to get some for dessert in the city but it was closed. The next day, I decided to make it myself because now I was craving it! Here is the recipe with just very minor alterations. This dessert was a hit. You NEED to try it!


11 oz. packaged of Vanilla wafer cookies

16 oz. of heavy whipping cream

5 sliced bananas (ripe but not too ripe)

14 oz. can of sweetened condensed milk

3.4 oz. Jello Vanilla Instant Pudding

1 1/2 cups cold water


In a large bowl, add the condensed milk, instant pudding and cold water. Mix all together very well till smooth and creamy. Cover & refrigerate for 4 hours.

Using a kitchen aid mixer with the whisk attachment or a handheld mixer, make some fresh whipped cream by whipping the heavy cream in a chilled bowl till you see soft fluffy peaks.

Gently fold in the whipped cream into the chilled pudding. I folded in 1/3 at a time till evenly mixed through.

In your bowl of choice, layer vanilla wafers, then sliced bananas then the cream and keep layering it that way until you run out of the cream. Refrigerate for another hour and then enjoy!

      At least 10 people can eat from this serving. You can make individual serving cups of about 12 or make it in one big trifle as I did and plate as much you would like for each person. Hope this helps. Have a great day!

Or it is supposed to be a mix of the cream and pudding together? I’m a little confused. Please elaborate a little more because I want to make this thank you 🙂

      To the chilled pudding, you will fold in the freshly whipped cream a little at a time. I mention folding in the cream because you do not want to miss out on the fluffiness by over mixing it into the pudding. The result of the pudding mixed with the fresh whipped cream is what you will be using to layer your banana pudding. I hope this makes more sense to you. Let me know if you have any other questions!
