Salatat Jarjeer (Middle Eastern Arugula Salad)

salatat jarjeer (middle eastern arugula salad) on a decorative plate with a side of lemon

I cannot count the number of times I had this salad on my recent trip to NJ. I have always enjoyed Salatat Jarjeer as I am a big fan of textures, acidity, and arugula in general. I however almost forgot about this salad until recently when almost every household I visited in NJ made this salad to accompany dinner. That is when I knew I had to make this when I got back and share it with you guys. It is just so simple but so good especially if you love a strong citrus flavor as I do. It pairs well with seafood especially but just as good with anything else. It is definitely worth a try!

Salatat Jarjeer (Middle Eastern Arugula Salad)

This Arugula salad is super easy, tangy, and delicious. It has crunch from the walnuts, acidity from the fresh lemon juice and sumac, a subtle zing from the red onions, and a peppery flavor from the arugula. All these flavors create a dynamite bite!

I love rocket, as we know it here in Australia . . . and I am certainly hoping to prepare this very easy recipe soonest ! Do not use nuts in my salads nearly often enough . . . and sumac has long been a favourite! The whole seems rather a moreish side for the salmon as shown – thanks !

    1. Hi Rabia, you would have to enter each ingredient and see that way through my fitness pal. I don’t have the calorie intake at the moment.

Made this for Thanksgiving lunch & loved it! It gives a nice citrus flavor. The only thing I’d do different next time is not add a full lemon juice.
