Chocolate Almond Date Balls

Chocolate Almond Date balls with one cut in half

I have so many dates left from Ramadan that I wanted to create some date balls which are super popular nowadays. This flavor combo however is heavenly! It almost reminds me of an almond version of Ferrera Roche but healthier! Let’s just say these are addicting and you will probably want to make 2 servings of it!

Servings: approx. 16

Total Time: approx. 15 min

Ingredients

14 Mejdool dates

1/3 cup creamy almond butter

3/4 cup raw almonds

1 tsp vanilla

Sprinkle of salt

2 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1-2 tbsp water

Instructions

Submerge the dates in water for 15 minutes to soften them.

In a food processor, pulse the nuts on high until they are fine crumbs.

Then, add the pitted dates and the rest of the above ingredients. * Just use 1/2 cup of the pulsed almonds. The rest is for the coating. Pulse until all combined. *If dates were soaked longer than 15 min then you may not need as much water to add if any. See if the date paste batter needs water before adding.

Using a cookie scooper, make uniform size balls and continue shaping with your hand. * Optional: place an almond in the center of the date ball for a surprise crunch in the center!

Roll in more finely pulsed almonds. Allow them to cool in the fridge to firm a bit.

Then store in a container in the fridge and enjoy this snack whenever craving something sweet!

  1. Hi, 14 mejdool dates are approximately how many grams? Also should I add 1-2tbs water to soak the dates ?

    1. Hi,
I dont know approximately how many grams that would be. Sorry! First, submerge the dates in water until they soften. Then, drain them and only add 1-2 tbsp of more water if needed when you are blending.
