Chocolate Lazy cake
Once you try this 4 ingredient no-bake chocolate lazy cake; you will crave it all the time. The best part is that it requires little effort to make! Leave the rest in the freezer’s hands then slice and enjoy for a treat whenever you would like. I always have a stash of chocolate lazy cake in my freezer for when I have guests come over last minute. This dessert is really just a perfect combination of creamy chocolate and crisp tea biscuits. I take it a step further by adding coffee which pairs beautifully with chocolate and accentuates the flavor.
Both adults and children love this hassle-free dessert. It has all the flavors and textures desired in a sweet treat. I actually first had this dessert at my childhood friend’s home, Samira. Her mom always kept some in the freezer and I thought it was the most delicious bite! In Syrian, her family would call it Sookseeyeh. I have come to learn that many regions around the world make this chocolate lazy cake. There are so many variations and names for this treat. Some regions add a mixture of nuts or coconut even. I added coffee which isn’t common but works great.
I would love for you to try this delicious no-bake dessert. Let me know what you think below and send me your remakes on my Instagram!

- Add the mixture to the top of a 9×13 cut of plastic wrap 2 inches away from the edge of the longest side. Shape the mixture into a thick log.
- Then wrap it in the plastic wrap like a log shape. Wrap again with aluminum foil and ensure the shape resembles a thick log.

This brought back memories from my time living in Jordan! I remember it’s one of the first desserts I ever made! So easy and delicious!
I made this for a family and gathering and it was such a huge hit!! It was literally gone within minutes and the best part is that it took 5 minutes to make it!
Thank you heifa for this recipe! It tasted like my childhood 😭 so so amazing and chewy and chocolatey. Its the perfect bite!!! ❤️
I am so happy to remind you of your childhood with this recipe!
Can we use sweetened cocoa powder? Or would that be too sweet? I just worry it comes out bitter.
It definitely won’t be bitter if you use unsweetened cocoa because you are using sweetened condensed milk. You can, however, use sweetened cocoa if you like.
I made this cake for my family and everybody loved it! So easy to make and even though the recipe says it needs to be in the freezer for up to 8h, we couldn’t wait that long and sliced it after a few hours. Next time I might use white chocolate and add some pistachios! Such a delicious, easy and affordable dessert!
Thanks, Alma for the lovely review! Would love to hear how the white chocolate/pistachio variation turns out. Sounds delish!
Another hit! What made this cake different then other recipes I saw on Instagram bloggers pages is that she adds instant coffee, I used a starbucks blonde roast instant pack instead of nescafé and it was amazing!
Yes! Coffee accentuates the flavor of chocolate! They work so well together. Glad you liked it!
Thanks Heifa for this quick and delicious dessert. I accidentally added 1tsp or instant coffee instead of the liquid coffee and it still tastes delicious.
Happy to hear 🙂
Hands down, my family’s favorite dessert! We make this often. It’s simple, quick and delicious. My son even requested this as his birthday cake! Thank you for the wonderful recipe!
Aww, that makes me so happy. Thank you
I loved this dessert! It’s so easy to make and I love that it’s so different than a traditional cake!
I love it too! Agreed!
MashaAllah I loved it. Super easy! No cooking was the best part. The flavor is so good! The texture is on spot. Delicious!
Very easy and kids love it ! We have used choc chip graham crackers as well!
Yum!
Enjoyed this and have made multiple times with my son. Can change up the cookies if you can’t always find the same brand. Important to wrap properly to keep fresh and crunchy!
So happy you enjoyed this yummy flexible lazy cake!
Such an easy and tasty dessert. It’s great to just have ready when guests come over. Thank you for the recipe!
So easy to make and it brings back a lot of childhood memories 😍
This recipe is a crowd pleaser, made it multiple times and it always turn out amazing. I even tried making it once with Parle-G cookies and it was just as good. The hint of coffee def enhances the flavor.
